What? February? WHOA!! I can’t believe it already February!
January was pronounced as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month in the United States. Although today was the first day of February, the American Corner hosted an event sponsored by the US Embassy in Macedonia. A joint presentation and panel discussion was held with Jessica John, Political Officer at the US Embassy in Skopje for the Rule of Law, Ana Burageva from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RM, Anti-Trafficking Secretariat and Veselinka Cvetanovska from the NGO Open Gate. These women spoke about the current state of human trafficking in Macedonia and how people need to be aware and fight against it. As Secretary Clinton states, it is modern day slavery. It is such a scary thing that exists in our world so brining light to its existence is crucial!

Following the presentations and panel discussion I stayed at the American Corner for Learning English through Games club! Back by popular request was the card game Spoons. We had a great time!
Coming home it started to snow! I took a few pictures J
Lesson: Awareness is the first step in making change.
It is very good that awareness of this horrible practice!!! Looks like a great presentation!! Spoons brings back fun memories, almost as good as spin the bottle.... LOL LOL

I meant to say before I was distracted...... Most people do not have any idea how extensive a problem this is, and how devastating is is to not only the person but to the families involved as well!! Hopefully discussions and talk such of this help to put an end to this scourge!!!
