Guess this is kind of a big deal :)

On Thursday I found out there was a story about my selection to the Fulbright Program on UNL's website. I have to admit I was a little shocked as I typed in www.unl.edu and then saw my face!
Thanks for the photo Jena

Despite the fact that it was a little embarrassing to have that much attention directed at me, I was honored to have the photo taken and the article written. I am still soaking in that I have actually been selected as a Fulbright recipient when so many other deserving individuals have not.

Here is the article:

Ouch...my arms hurt!

Today was my first doctor appointment for check ups and immunizations.  Who knew I was in the age bracket where Hepatitis B shots weren't part of routine immunization schedule as a child...not me until today.  :(  But with the first round of Hep A and Hep B, and a tuberculosis test, I am on my way to being officially immunized.

One realization that I had while sitting in the doctor's office was that I only have 5 months to learn Macedonian and figure out what it means to live abroad.... but who's counting?

So where is Macedonia anyway??

Macedonia is a land locked in the Balkan's area. Formerly part of Yugoslavia, Macedonia has been an independent country since 1991.

What is a Fulbright Scholarship?

Check out the Fulbright site for information about what a Fulbright Scholarship is!!!
My particular grant is an English Teaching Assistant-ship (ETA).

The Start of a New Chapter....

Fulbright Scholar?  Who Me?

This really doesn't even seem possible. I feel so honored to have been selected! Macedonia seems so far away...but soon it will be home.  At this point I don't have words for all the emotions I feel.  Excited, scared, nervous, humbled, pumped, anxious....

My plan will be to post updates in the process. As I hear more information I will post it here!

Thanks for all the congratulations and well wishes!!
