Day 115 - Slovenia 1- Tuesday January 3rd, 2012

Slovenia her we come!!!
In the air plane!!

At the Ljubljana airport
We left the Skopje airport at 3:45pm to head to Ljubljana, Slovenia! Upon arrival in Ljubljana we passed through passport control with no problem.  After getting our bags we were greeted with a great welcome counter with so many great brochures filled with information about the country. It was obvious then that this was a city who was prepared for tourists! We arrived at the hostel Vila Veselova- I would highly recommend it to anyone going to Ljubljana!  Great people, great space, quite, breakfast included, linens, a kitchen, secure and not too far from the center! Here is a picture of it from the outside and inside:

We arrived in time to go to a fun dinner, we decided on Namaste, an Indian restaurant in the center on the river called “The Ljubljana River”.  We also met two other American girls at the hostel who were just finishing their semester’s abroad with some travel. They joined us for dinner.  It was good food, but the Mulligatawny soup did not come close to what you can get at The Oven in Lincoln!  I took a picture of my main dish- it was a spicy chicken dish- very tasty.

After dinner we decided to walk along the river before heading back to the hostel.  I was so excited to see that Christmas lights were still up in the city. Before going I had read that the city does a lot of decorating for the holidays so I was hoping to see the lights. The Christmas market had ended before we came, but at least we go to see the lights!  Ljubljana is a beautiful city. I have always thought that cities with rivers have a beauty unlike others.  The reflections of the lights and buildings in the water are breathtaking!

Lesson: Each city I have seen has something unique and beautiful, just like each person I meet.
